In 2013, Duy Tan University (DTU) initiated a project to establish its General Practitioner (GP) program, receiving official approval to begin admissions in the 2015–2016 academic year. The curriculum was meticulously developed based on the 2001 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, ensuring strict alignment with national medical training standards.
Today, the Faculty of Medicine has built a formidable academic team of 105 members, including professors, PhDs, master's degree holders, specialist physicians, pharmacists, and nurses. Furthermore, the faculty collaborates extensively with visiting lecturers from 18 major hospitals across Da Nang and Quang Nam.
Key clinical training partners include:
Unlike many other institutions, DTU offers a comprehensive 6-year General Practitioner program with a distinctive emphasis on bilingual education. The entire first year focuses intensely on building foundational and specialized English skills.
To evaluate and strengthen students' proficiency, select basic science subjects are taught experimentally in English early on. This preparation ensures students are fully equipped to study complex medical materials and conduct research exclusively in English during their remaining years of training.
Students at DTU are trained to meet uncompromising professional standards and are actively given opportunities to engage with national and international research institutes. This immersive academic environment enables them to enhance their scientific skills and confidently prepare for careers as competent physicians or leading medical researchers.
Moving forward, the Faculty of Medicine remains deeply dedicated to improving both the quality and quantity of General Practitioners serving the Central Vietnam region and the Central Highlands.
